La noche te confunde…
El comando sudo hace escalar en privilegios a un usuario normal y chacho, NO LE PIDE LA CONTRASEÑA DE ROOT, pide la contraseña del usuario que ejecuta el comando.
Quizás el que no entiende el funcionamiento y eres tu y no los usuarios de Ubuntu o cualquier otra distribución que en lugar de tener usuario root utiliza la escalada temporal de privilegios que proporciona sudo.
